Infrastructure and Learning Resources.
The college campus is spread over an area of 3140 Sq. Mtr. The college has its own
building with sufficient number of lecture halls and well-equipped laboratories
and playground. There is sufficient water supply, uninterrupted power supply and
experienced, dedicated and devoted staff. We have not felt the need for special
transport facility, since the college is located at the centre of the town and is
well-connected by various modes of transport.
Library
College have departmental libraries for use by faculty and students. Librarian issues
and keeps record of books in each of the departmental library. The library holds
more than 26758 books for reference by faculty and students. The central library
remains open from 8 hours on working days and from 8 hours on examination time.
The library has purchased the SOUL software from INFLIBNET for library automation
and the process is on. All the departments have been provided with computers. All
faculty and students are allowed to use these computers. We have also provided internet
facility at the library for use by students and staff.
Due to infrastructural constraints, we have not been able to establish a central
computing facility inside the main college building.
Rest Room
In addition to Boys and Girls common room, the college provides rest room for girls.
Exemption for Female candidates from payment of tuition fee
All female candidates are exempted from paying tuition fee at all levels as per
the Gujarat Government’s resolution. The principal has to sign and endorse
at the back of the original certificates and school leaving certificate of the female
candidate, while giving admission in the concerned class. If a female students leaves
the college halfway through the term as to get admitted elsewhere, then such students
will have to deposit the exempted tuition fee as per the circular dated 08-10-1985
issued by the Joint Director of Higher Education.
Student Support and Progression
Surprisingly,
of the total enrolled students, more than 60% of the students over the last many
years are females. A good number of our students after completing their graduation,
go for further studies. Drop out rate is almost nil. Many students have cleared
TOFEL and IELTS examinations and qualified. SC / ST students are eligible to get
scholarship as per the government rules. There is a provision for freeship for backward
class students belonging to the Bakshi Panch as well as students belonging to the
financially weaker section as per government rule. The institution has also arranged
for students safety insurance scheme in collaboration with New India Assurance Company
Ltd. We have a separate cell to address the grievances of students belonging to
ST / SC Categories.
The college has a grievance redressal cell. Welfare schemes in the form of
various government and institutional scholarships and free ships are available to
all its students. Faculties from all departments lay great emphasis on better academic
achievement and progression of all its students and the students are guided in this
matter during classroom interactions. Teachers regularly discuss the programmes
available in various subjects after their graduation and also help them collect
the necessary information. All important literature regarding higher studies received
by the college is displayed on the notice board. To prevent sexual harassment, a
cell was formed recently as per the directives of the state education department.
We give monetary and non-monetary incentives to students who are proficient in sports
Students participate in extra curricular activities and recreational activities.
Extra-curricular activities
It is compulsory for every student during the first two years of B.Sc. course to
join any one of the following training programmes. i.e. N.C.C. / N.S.S. / Physical
education / Scope / Saptadhara.
Along with these activities, there are various study circles constituted in each
department. All students can actively participate in the activities of these study
circles. All round the year the college arranges various competitions like debate,
quiz, poster, etc. There are various cultural programmes arranged during the academic
year, in which students can participate. The college has enough space and facilities,
for the students to participate in various sports activities like cricket, kho-kho,
table tennis, basket ball, chess, caroms, etc.
